Egypt extends Sunday remote work scheme through July
Egypt’s Cabinet on Wednesday extended a remote work scheme allowing employees at designated government entities to work from home on Sundays throughout July.
The decision extends the provisions of Prime Ministerial Decree No. 982 of 2026, which introduced the weekly work-from-home arrangement for employees covered by the measure.
Under the extension, the scheme will remain in effect during July 2026 for staff at the entities and establishments specified in the decree.
The move comes as Egypt seeks to curb energy consumption amid regional tensions, building on earlier government measures to ease pressure on electricity demand.
