Egypt’s 100 Days of Health Campaign provides nearly 11 mln free services in 8 days
Egypt’s 100 Days of Health Campaign has provided nearly 11 million free medical services since its launch on 1 August, the Health Ministry said on Monday, as the government expands access to healthcare nationwide.
The fourth edition of the nationwide campaign had delivered 10,966,291 services by its eighth day, including medical consultations, preventive care, treatment decisions, and surgeries, the ministry said.
The campaign provided 1.612 million free services on its eighth day alone, with 13 ministry sectors and affiliated healthcare bodies participating, ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The Therapeutic Care Sector accounted for 456,646 services, while primary healthcare facilities provided 350,418. Health Insurance Organisation hospitals delivered 198,223 services, and presidential public health initiatives provided 156,023.
The campaign also performed 3,560 surgeries under Egypt’s programme to eliminate treatment waiting lists and issued 7,249 decisions covering treatment at the state’s expense, the ministry said.
Other services included preventive medicine, specialised medical care, and the Golden 1,000 Days maternal and child health initiative. A government mental health programme provided more than 10,390 services.
The campaign’s health-awareness efforts reached 56,758 people through community outreach teams operating in public areas, clubs and shopping malls across Egypt.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has said national health initiatives aim to improve the efficiency of the healthcare system and support Egypt’s goal of achieving universal health coverage.
