Abu Dhabi Crown Prince in Cairo to Discuss Investments

Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan arrived in Cairo on Wednesday intending to meet Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah a-Sisi to discuss investments and developmental plans between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, Al-Ahram’s Arabic news website reported.

Al-Nahyan, who is also the deputy supreme commander of the UAE’s army, plans to also meet Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab to discuss bilateral relations.

In July, Egypt received $3 billion in aid from the UAE, part of the $12 billion pledged by Gulf Arab states after the ouster of Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi.

The UAE also sent seven shipments of fuel worth $225 million in the same month.

Gulf states – namely Saudi Arabia and the UAE – have strongly backed Egypt’s latest government and are opposed to the Brotherhood, which they see as a threat to their own domestic stability.
