Egypt: EGP764 million New Investments in Halayeb, Shalateen and Abu Ramad

Egyptian government will focus on carrying out basic projects in Halayeb, Shalateen, and Abu Ramad areas, with investments worth EGP 764 million (US$103 million).

According to Egyptian Minister for Local Development Adel Labib, the planned projects will be in fields of solar energy, water desalination, education, health and culture, aiming to serve the residents of Halayeb, Shalateen, and Abu Ramad areas.  This comes as part of the government’s plan to ensure more support for the three regions.

The Egyptian minister had paid a visit to Halayeb, Shalateen, and Abu Ramad. The Consultative Council for Society Development had accompanied the minister in his visit, with the purpose of following up the development plans and execution mechanism.

Furthermore, the minister assured there will be great focus on the short-term projects to meet with the needs of the citizens of the three cities.

Labib noted that his visit was to complement the developing role played the Consultative Council, targeting coordination between the government institutions and the civil societies in implementing national projects.

He added that the civil society organizations play a major role in the developing process and the upcoming period should witness a great cooperation with the government to best serve the country.
