One person was killed and 10 others wounded in two road crashes in Egypt’s Nile Delta governorate of Beheira on Friday, state news agency MENA reported.
The first accident occurred when two trucks collided with a tractor trailer in the western part of the city of Al-Nobariya, killing one person and injuring another.
Some 50 kilometers away, nine people were wounded when a microbus smashed into a concrete wall on a highway leading to the Mediterranean city of Alexandria.
The crashes are the latest in near-daily accidents that claim the lives of thousands every year in Egypt. Deadly road accidents are often blamed on bad driving, poor infrastructure, and loosely enforced traffic regulations.
On Monday, ten people were killed and 20 others wounded in a major traffic accident involving eight vehicles in Beni Suef, south of Cairo.
In its latest report in April, the country’s census authority said that over 14,400 road accidents occurred in Egypt in 2014, killing more than 6,200 people and injuring over 25,000 others.
