Hot on the heels of the RM 016 Black Night (-big, flat and as fly as it gets…) comes the Richard Mille RM 032 Dark Diver, another darkened and dramatic limited edition piece. Yes it’s round but it’s still unmistakably Mille – engineered to be ultra-strong yet light and with a few trick in-built features.
The mastery of this piece lies in the fact that along with its diver’s watches credentials; it packs in a fly back chronograph. The chronograph function and deep water are not good bedfellows – high pressure can cause activation of the pushers leading to all sorts of problems. The solution is in the crown, a fine feature in itself, which secures the pushers when it is locked in place ensuring that everything remains in tip top working order at all times – perfect.
All Richard Mille watches are imposing and this one measures 50mm across but looks big, wears less-so thanks to the curvature of its case. Titanium construction means that it is light and nothing escapes the DLC treatment – even the bold Arabic numerals and the speckling of screws on the bezel synonymous with this model have been blackened, but liberal Superluminova coating allows for ultra-readability of all necessary indications.
The Richard Mille RM 032 Dark Diver Automatic Chronograph will be an exclusive 30 piece limited edition available for purchase only at the brand’s Beverly Hills boutique.
