Egyptian Banks’ Loans Rose EGP 2.3 Bln In Oct. 2012

The volume of loans offered by the Egyptian banking sector to customers surged by EGP 2.3 billion (0.64%), registering EGP 505.7 billion at the end of last October, compared to EGP 503.4 billion at the end of September, 2012.

According to the Central Bank of Egypt’s recent report, the government-sector accounted for EGP 33.05 billion of the total volume of loans offered in last October; of which local-currency balances registered EGP 13.3 billion and foreign-currency balances registered EGP 19.7 billion.

The loans offered to non-government bodies witnessed an increase of EGP 3.18 billion (0.67%), as it climbed from EGP 469.5 billion at the end of last September to EGP 472.7 billion at the end of last October; of which local-currency loans accounted for EGP 352.1 billion and foreign-currency loans accounted for EGP 120.5 billion.
