“Ladies of Egypt” e-campaign launches to help in teleworking system for Egyptian women
The “Sayedat Masr” (Ladies of Egypt) initiative launched on Monday an e-campaign, for the first time in Egypt, to help and promote telework for the Egyptian women with more flexible working hours. The campaign focus on the challenges facing working women and the benefits that business owners and society can obtain from promoting flexible working hours and telecommuting.
“Our target in the e-campaign is to boost society’s awareness of the need to embrace working women and respect their social conditions rather than forcing them to leave their jobs or making obstacles in front of them,” according to Al-Masry Al-Youm’s report with Radwa Hosny the e-campaign’s coordinator. The team of “Sayedat Masr” initiative are all from various cities inside and outside Egypt, which Hosny said was an excellent example of the productivity of teleworking.
“To be an Egyptian woman, teleworking is the best way for me to balance my work as a content writer with completing my academic studies,” she stated. “This campaign does not call on all women to stay at home, but offers an alternative chance to maintain her career without interruption due to any special circumstances she may face, such as pregnancy or childcare.” Radwa highlighted.
She also added that Experts in designing applications and programs that foster teleworking, as well as some workers and business owners using these applications have joined the initiative. she said that Egyptian women being more challenged to reach a balance between work and family. Hosny concluded that due to the pandemic of coronavirus, a large number of women in Egypt lost their jobs, while others took unpaid leave or sick leaves to care for their children after the closing of schools.
