Minister of Environment, WB delegation discuss cooperation over blue economy
The Egyptian Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, discussed on Tuesday cooperation in the field of blue economy with a World Bank (WB) delegation.
Fouad asserted that the blue economy is part of the national direction Egypt aims to incorporate in its green economy transition. The minister also referred to Egypt’s interest in expanding of the field of ecotourism, one of the blue economy’s pillars.
Furthermore, Fouad stressed the importance of taking investment opportunities into consideration while drafting the national blue economy strategy.
The national strategy for the blue economy is developed in cooperation with the PROBLUE Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF). PROBLUE is part of the World Bank’s overall blue economy programme.
PROBLUE contributes to the World Bank’s twin goals of ending extreme poverty and increasing the welfare of the poor in a sustainable manner.
