Netanyahu graft trial resumes during Gaza attacks
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s graft trial has resumed on Monday during the state’s attacks on Gaza, press reported.
The ongoing trial was suspended at the beginning of the Israeli attacks on Gaza, Israeli officials said.
Netanyahu is accused of fraud and breach of trust due to his relationship with Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan and other wealthy personalities.
Between 2007 and 2016 Netanyahu received gifts with a value of 700,000 shekels ($195,000).
According to prosecutors, these gifts include boxes of cigars, bottles of champagne, and jewellery.
He received the gifts in exchange for financial or personal favours.
Netanyahu is Israel’s first sitting prime minister to stand trial.
However, he denies any wrongdoing that he is accused of and says that the gifts were only accepted from friends and without him asking for them.
