EU consumer confidence drops for 2nd consecutive month
Consumer confidence in the EU and the euro area declined in December 2024, according to a flash estimate conducted by the European Commission.
The EU’s confidence indicator fell by 1.0 per cent, while the euro area saw a 0.7 per cent drop. Both indicators moved further below their long-term averages, marking the second consecutive month of decline.
In November, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) remained stable in the EU and the euro area, while the Employment Expectations Indicator (EEI) eased slightly in both regions. Despite slight stability, both the ESI and EEI remain below their long-term averages, reflecting continued economic uncertainty.
