Egypt’s NFSA, Tahya Misr Fund ink deal to improve food security

Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) signed a cooperation protocol with the Tahya Misr Fund on Wednesday to strengthen food safety initiatives targeting vulnerable populations, the Cabinet said in a statement.

The agreement aims to coordinate efforts in food monitoring, technical assistance, training, and awareness campaigns for both consumers and producers. It also seeks to enhance food supply chains in underprivileged areas.

NFSA Chairman Tarek El-Houby said the partnership reflects the agency’s commitment to improving collaboration with national institutions to support Egypt’s food safety system, aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Tamer Abdel-Fattah, executive director of the Tahya Misr Fund, said the protocol represents a strategic move to raise living standards by improving access to safe, nutritious food, with a focus on prevention and education.
