Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, participated on Tuesday in the groundbreaking ceremony of Gennvax Egypt Pharmaceutical Industries in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE). The project, with current investments of $150 million and an expansion plan adding $70 million, brings the total expected investment to $220 million, reflecting a long-term commitment to the Egyptian market.
The factory will serve as a regional centre for vaccine production and export to Africa and global markets, supporting Egypt’s goal to strengthen its role as a regional hub for industry and exports. Operational plans allocate around 60 per cent of production for the local market and approximately 40 per cent for export to African, Arab, and WHO-approved markets, in line with state efforts to boost trade and maximise market access.
El-Khatib reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting serious investors and addressing operational or expansion challenges efficiently, ensuring the sustainability and impact of strategic projects.
