Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindy inaugurated on Tuesday Talabat Egypt’s quick commerce distribution centre, billed as the largest in the Middle East and North Africa region, on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
The facility, developed in partnership with Hassan Allam Utilities, is located in the Yanmu East Logistics Park on the Cairo–Suez Road. Spanning about 27,000 square metres, the project can process up to one million items daily.
The hub currently serves all of Talabat Mart’s network in Egypt across 12 cities, with plans to expand to 17 cities.
Talabat said the centre uses integrated real-time systems linking inventory management, stores and supply chain operations, alongside internally developed artificial intelligence tools to forecast demand, optimise stock distribution and automate supply processes, according to a statement from the communications ministry.
The statement, citing the company, said the facility can currently accommodate around 75,000 storage locations and can double capacity within the same footprint without expansion.
Talabat Egypt employs about 3,100 staff, including more than 1,600 specialists supporting the company’s eight regional markets through its technology and shared services centre in Egypt.
The company added that Egypt-based teams provide 74 per cent of Talabat’s shared services and contribute to the development of key user application features across the region.
