Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, inspected on Saturday the National Advanced Transmission and Automation Control Center (NATA) at the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO). The visit focused on assessing the national gas network’s readiness and ensuring uninterrupted supplies to domestic consumption sectors.
During the visit, Badawi reviewed natural gas supplies from various sources, including domestic production and imports, as well as the mechanisms for receiving, transporting, and distributing gas through the national network to meet the needs of the electricity, industrial, and other consumption sectors.
He also examined monitoring and control systems used to track gas flows across the network and respond immediately to changes in supply and consumption rates, allowing available quantities to be distributed according to the priorities and needs of different sectors while maintaining network stability.
Badawi stressed the importance of strengthening coordination among petroleum sector entities and improving the efficiency of natural gas management. He called for accelerating the integration of new wells into domestic production and increasing output to narrow the gap between production and consumption, reduce reliance on imports, and strengthen Egypt’s ability to secure its energy needs amid geopolitical developments and changes in global energy markets.
