Egyptian Parliament’s committee of communications and Information Technology is holding a meeting Monday with heads of car-hailing companies Uber and Careem to discuss regulatory frameworks of using IT tools to improve transportation in Egypt.
The meeting shall also address a new draft law that helps improves transportation in the country by using technological tools.
On the other hand, the committee is going to meet with representatives of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) to discuss the number of vacant jobs the new project of Asyut and Borj Al Arab technology parks is expected to create.
ICT committee paid a field visit to check the workflow in this project last week.
In addition, the ICT committee will also meet with Minister of Supply Khaled Hanaf to review the possibility of applying technology solutions to the state’s smart-card system for subsidised commodities and Tarek Shawki, head of Egypt’s Presidential Specialized Council for Education and Scientific Research to discuss duplicating the Bank of Knowledge’s experience.
This is the first time the Egyptian parliament witnessed formation of a committee dedicated for the ICT sector.
