Egypt’s fuel exports record $901mn in nine months

Egyptian exports of fuel sagged 22.6 percent during January-September 2016 to 16.2 billion Egyptian pounds (around US$900.9 million) from 21 billion pounds at the same period of 2015.

The monthly bulletin released by Egyptian statistics body CAPMAS showed that fuel exports rose by 56.9 percent in September 2016 to 2.1 billion pounds versus 1.3 billion pounds in September 2015.

During the first nine months of 2016, Egypt’s exports of petroleum products recorded 811.2 million pounds compared to 8.7 billion pounds at the same period of 2015, dropping by 90.7 percent.

The CAPMAS stated that Egypt’s exports of coal declined to 347.7 million pounds in January-September 2016 compared to 480.5 million pounds at the same period of 2015, making a 27.6 percent drop.

Moreover, Egyptian exports of crude oil decreased by 6 percent during the first nine months of 2016 to 11.1 billion pounds opposed to 11.8 billion pounds at the same period of 2015, the bulletin noted.
