Egypt opens applications for 3,000 jobs at El Dabaa nuclear plant

Egypt has opened applications for 3,000 jobs at the El Dabaa nuclear power plant in partnership with Hassan Allam Construction, Labour Minister Hassan Raddad said on Tuesday.

The vacancies include steel fixers, carpenters, metal formwork workers, assistants, and general labourers, according to a ministry statement.

Monthly salaries start at 15,000 Egyptian pounds ($295.73) for skilled workers and include productivity incentives, accommodation, three daily meals, and transportation to and from the work site.

“The vacancies include 1,000 steel fixers, 500 carpenters, 500 metal formwork workers, 500 steel fixer assistants, 300 carpenter assistants, and 200 general labourers,” Raddad said.

The minister said the recruitment drive forms part of the government’s efforts to expand employment opportunities and provide major national projects with skilled labour.

Applications will be accepted for four days from 14 July via an online platform, after which shortlisted candidates will undergo screening and recruitment procedures, the ministry said.

The El Dabaa nuclear power plant on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast is the country’s first nuclear power project and one of its largest strategic infrastructure developments.

Being built by Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom under a 2015 intergovernmental agreement, the facility will consist of four VVER-1200 Generation III+ reactors with a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts upon completion.
