Egypt’s ENPPI wins first Oman contract in $355 mln energy project

Egypt’s state-owned engineering company ENPPI has won a $355 million contract for an oil and gas project in Oman, marking the company’s first project in the sultanate.

ENPPI secured the integrated Budour–North East Birba Integrated Project (BBIP) on behalf of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) after competing with international energy companies, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum on Wednesday.

Under the contract, ENPPI will act as the turnkey contractor for the project, which forms part of the company’s broader regional expansion strategy in the Gulf.

The project aims to raise gas processing capacity at the Birba Gas Station to 4.2 million standard cubic metres per day from 1.4 million cubic metres, while maintaining oil processing capacity at 4,000 cubic metres per day.

The development also includes upgrades to gas processing and utilisation systems to improve operational efficiency and reduce gas flaring, in line with PDO’s target of eliminating routine flaring by 2030.

ENPPI’s scope of work includes engineering design, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up operations, and six months of operational support following preliminary handover.

The company said the contract reflected growing international confidence in its engineering and technical capabilities and its ability to execute large-scale projects in line with quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

It added that the project builds on efforts to strengthen cooperation between Egyptian and Omani energy companies following Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy’s visit to Oman in December.
