Egypt advances digital overhaul of internal trade authority

Egypt’s Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade is accelerating the digital transformation of the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA), including plans for a new official website and expanded real-time monitoring systems, the ministry said on Sunday.

Supply Minister Sherif Farouk held an expanded meeting to review progress on digital transformation projects at the authority, which regulates internal trade services. Senior ministry and authority officials attended the meeting.

Farouk directed the swift launch of a new official website, describing it as a unified digital gateway designed to improve service delivery and strengthen communication with citizens and investors.

The ministry said the platform will consolidate services through a single interface, improve operational efficiency, and enhance system stability. It will also integrate with internal systems and expand digital communication channels to increase reliance on online services.

The ministry officials also reviewed a broader digital management platform under development, which includes human resources systems, electronic attendance, real-time commercial registry dashboards, digital inspection tools, geographic information systems (GIS), and fieldwork applications.

The ministry said the digital inspection system was activated in February 2026, enabling real-time oversight, improving monitoring efficiency, reducing human intervention and enhancing transparency.

The system is being implemented in phases, including analysis, design, development, integration, and pilot operation.

Farouk said the ministry is continuing efforts to expand digital transformation across all affiliated bodies, stressing the importance of technology and data-driven decision-making to improve government performance and service quality.

He also called for continued development of the authority’s digital platforms, describing them as a model for broader public sector digital transformation in Egypt.
