China halts tariff exemptions for 34 Taiwanese agricultural products
China will suspend tariff exemptions on 34 agricultural products imported from Taiwan, effective September 25, according to a government statement on Wednesday.
The list includes fresh fruits, vegetables, and aquatic products.
The Chinese Finance Ministry stated that tariffs on these items would be implemented according to existing regulations. The ministry attributed the decision to Taiwan’s unilateral adoption of discriminatory measures, including bans and restrictions on the export of mainland products, which have significantly hindered cross-Strait economic and trade cooperation.
