Egyptian journalist Alexandrani sentenced to 10 years in prison
An Egyptian military court sentenced on Tuesday Egyptian journalist and researcher Ismail Alexandrani to ten years in prison for spreading false news and joining a banned group, according to Ahram Online.
Alexandrani, a prominent journalist and an expert on militant groups in the North Sinai, was arrested after arriving at Hurghada airport from Germany in December 2015.
He was referred to a military trial for a number of charges including spreading false news and joining a banned group, in reference to the Muslim Brotherhood.
This is a first degree military court ruling that can be appealed within 60 days of its ratification.
