Egypt’s Petrojest signs $100-m contract for Dabaa peaceful power plant
Egypt’s Petrojest has concluded a $100-million contract with Russia’s Atomstroyexport for coastal protection projectat Egypt’s Dabaa nuclear plant. The contract includes constructing 4.2 km of coastal protection, including earthworks, rock installation, and concrete wave breakers.
Chairman of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, Amjad El Wakil noted the Dabaa nuclear plant project’s role in Egypt’s energy strategy and detailed plans to increase local component from 20 per cent in the first unit to 35 per cent in the fourth unit.
Notably, the Cabinet statement highlighted that the Dabaa peaceful power-generating nuclear plant will launch its first unit in 2028, with the remaining units to be commissioned by 2030.
